1. How did it start?
In Singapore in 2002 Russell Miller noticed that there were many entrepreneurs that were in our everyday lives but seemingly were overlooked as models of inspiration. He was soon joined by Tan Kin Lian a Singaporean business leader and entrepreneur who added ideas and enthusiasm. From the initial insights came the seeds that have blossomed into the Sprit of Enterprise to encourage all to honour even the most humble of entrepreneurs and inspire others to follow their entrepreneurial footsteps.
2.   Why is it called Spirit of Enterprise?
The words are taken from the then Prime Minister of Singapore’s National Day speech.
3.   Can you explain your logo and its wording to honour and inspire?
We believe all entrepreneurs are Stars. Our logo represents in graphic form their Spirit of Enterprise by encompassing a dynamic star symbol and the words of our motto "to honor and inspire." We honor all entrepreneurs no matter how humble their business appears and want to inspire young and old to become entrepreneurs.
4.   How do I make a donation?
In the USA donations are made to Spirit of Enterprise through Give2Asia, Attn. Grants and Programs, 465 California St., 9th floor, San Francisco, CA 94104  email: info@give2asia.org  they are then pass the donation to the country or program you designate.
5.   Why doesn’t USA have a non profit entity to take donations?
It seems a very efficient way to use an established reputable organization like Give2Asia to handle all donor affairs, forms, and filings with regulatory authorities. That way SOE USA minimizes its administrative expenses and increases the impact of any donation.
6.   What are donations used for?
Multiple efforts in honoring and inspiring.  On the home page just click the country button for their particular programs.
7.   Who have given?
Individuals and corporations. Each country is responsible for becoming self sufficient so each have different donors. See links indicating donors on the country web site. SOE USA doesn’t accept donations. It is organized to pass donations to the individual countries or their programs.
8.   Does every country have the same programs?
They all have the basic student interview, web posting, voting, Honors Award, book distributed to schools. That is the core group of programs. Each country then has its own set of additional programs and services for those who would become entrepreneurs.
9.   Is SOE aimed just at college students?
No we try and encourage young and old, educated or not, working or not. It is open to all.
10.   When is the Award Ceremony be held?
The Award Ceremonies are held once a year. It is attended by the Honorees, their families, government, business, education and leaders in a broad spectrum representing the country hosting the event.
11.   How do nominees get picked?
Members of the Governing Board and Students recommend names. This is the group that is interviewed.
12.   How do the Honorees get picked?
After looking at the voting results and reading the interviews the Board chooses the final award recipients.
13.   How do the student interviewers get picked?
Notices are sent to universities, junior colleges, and other schools. Students who respond are interviewed. Students who has good communication skills and attitude are chosen to conduct interviews with the entrepreneurs.
14.   Do the student interviewers get paid?
Yes in Singapore.
